All forms of evidence is crucial to accident investigation, therefore the forensic engineer must be thorough in his/her approach to obtaining such evidence.

CameraIn piecing the factors together they must remain objective in their task and present the findings in a clear and unambiguous manner. In some cases the results of the investigation may not prove favourable to the client, however, this must not allow changes in opinions.

Objectivity is the key to having integrity and being accepted as same by courts.

Photographic evidence correctly portrayed, i.e., dimensioned or in perspective, is an invaluable tool for the investigator.

Written evidence must not only be constructed in a professional format, but easily understood by the courts, without being misinterpreted.

Dated and documented evidence is vital to the role of the expert witness.
