All forms of evidence is crucial to accident investigation, therefore
the forensic engineer must be thorough in his/her approach to obtaining
such evidence.
In
piecing the factors together they must remain objective in their
task and present the findings in a clear and unambiguous manner.
In some cases the results of the investigation may not prove
favourable to the client, however, this must not allow changes
in opinions.
Objectivity is the key to having integrity and being accepted as
same by courts.
Photographic evidence correctly portrayed, i.e., dimensioned or
in perspective, is an invaluable tool for the investigator.
Written evidence must not only be constructed in a professional
format, but easily understood by the courts, without being misinterpreted.
Dated and documented evidence is vital to the role of the expert
witness.
